Residential Specialist

Home On The Range, a nationally accredited and licensed residential care facility for youth, is now accepting applications from persons who enjoy working with youth ages 10-18.

Applicants must be 21 years of age or older and enjoy working with children.  Starting wage is $8 per hour, part-time.  Full-time position availability varies (call for availability) – good starting salary (varies depending on experience and/or education).  Family health benefits paid by employer; dental, vision, life insurance and retirement for employee paid by employer.

Employee Selection and Orientation

 Once an applicant is selected for the available position, Home On The Range will provide an orientation program for each new employee.  The employee will be required to complete an orientation form which, when completed, will have served its purpose in informing the employee of the different departments at Home On The Range, their function and how the employee fits into the overall program here; educating the new employee on the different program areas; and, advising new staff of the requirements that are expected of all employees.

 Training will be provided to all new staff through the Home On The Range in-service training model.  Orientation training will include:

 1. Establishment of a staff/resident relationship.

 2. Applicable confidentiality policies and professional ethics

3. Outline of specific programs.

Background Checks

All prospective employees are required to complete forms for background checks.  Required checks are made through the following entities: Motor Vehicle Department, Bureau of Criminal Investigations, Federal Bureau of Investigations and Child Abuse and Neglect Central Registry. Checks are done to ensure the safety and security of Home On The Range, its staff and the children and families we serve. They are also required by state licensing standards and federal regulations.

Subsequent background checks will be conducted on a routine basis or if the executive director determines there is reasonable cause to do so.

Information obtained through background checks will be kept strictly confidential.  Potential employees may be disqualified from employment should their employment violate any state licensing or federal regulatory standard pertaining to persons employed by a child care facility.  Existing employees with a criminal background which violate any state licensing or federal regulatory standard pertaining to persons employed by a child care facility will be terminated.
