Home On The Range is pleased to announce they have hired Cara Ness as the Champions Ride Match Rodeo Coordinator.

Cara has been involved in rodeo all her life. She competed in the high school rodeo events and was a member of the NDSU rodeo team. In 2005, she was given the honor of being crowned Miss Rodeo North Dakota. During her reign, she traveled across the country and made guest appearances at different rodeos and special events. She promoted the sport of rodeo and gave radio broadcasts of rodeo news events. Cara is very familiar with the Champions Ride Match Rodeo as she was invited to participate as rodeo royalty.

Cara’s goal is to continue the Champions Ride Match Rodeo, and make it a bigger and better event. To help her with the production of the rodeo is a committee of volunteers such as four-time world saddle bronc champion Brad Gjermundson. The committee is made up of others interested in continuing the rodeo tradition as well as staff from Home On The Range.

Cara is currently attending North Dakota State University and pursuing a degree in animal science. She is the daughter of Neil and Anita Ness.

The Champions Ride Match Rodeo is August 5, at 1:00 p.m. (Mountain time) at Sentinel Butte, North Dakota. It will be the 51st performance of cowboys and saddle broncs.

It’s wild! It’s wooly! It’s western! Home On The Range has been sponsoring this unique fundraiser for over 45 years and it is going strong! The invitational Saddle Bronc Match is a premiere event that features twenty of the top professional cowboys mounted on some of pro rodeo’s toughest stock from contractors in the United States and Canada. It is truly entertainment at its finest, and many have ranked it right up there with a performance of the saddle bronc riding at the National Finals Rodeo! In fact, every world champion saddle bronc rider except one has ridden at Champions Ride.

Annually, on the first Sunday in August, spectators gather in the natural amphitheater to watch “champions ride” to benefit the children who call the ranch home. The rustic arena is nestled on the grounds of HOTR in the serene beauty of western North Dakota. Fans are truly “up close and personal” with many of the rodeo personalities they follow on TV. Champion's Ride gives them a great opportunity to get autographs and meet many of their cowboy heroes.

The Ranch and the Rodeo have grown up together and it would be nearly impossible to separate the two and the strong western heritage they share. In 2000, Champion's Ride was honored with the prestigious Special Achievement Award from the ND Cowboy Hall of Fame and was inducted into its ranks – only the third such event to have been honored in this way.

The rodeo itself is truly a class act, but more importantly, it brings people to Home On The Range, to see the working ranch dedicated to helping homeless, troubled and neglected children. The children themselves are on-hand to give tours and share the colorful history of the facility.

Champion's Ride is an affordable quality entertainment event for all ages. There is even a special priced family ticket! All proceeds from the event go to support the children that call Home On The Range home.
